Hierarchical Squares

This is an album of images generated by distorting photos I have taken - though I think the photo for image 32 was taken by Bec Todd.

The images are generated using a piece of software I wrote in Processing. The software works by drawing an image as a stack of layers, with each layer having squares that are half the (linear) size of the one below. So, the squares at the top are small, and the ones at the bottom are big.

The software only draws the smaller squares in parts of the image which are bright, thereby causing the shadows to appear distorted.
